ABU 4500/5500/6500 C models Driveshaft Bearing Upgrade (5mm)

This driveshaft bearing upgrade is designed to replace the small nylon bush of the older "C" model ABU Ambassadeur 4500, 5000, 5500, 6000 and 6500 reels, making your reel much smoother and reducing wear on the driveshaft and gears.

The nylon bushes are prone to wear, creating play in the drive and shortening the life of the gears. Simply replace the 8x13x5 nylon bush (Part Nos: 7080 and 5133) with the two shims and bearing as shown in the picture below (aligned shim, bearing, shim) to get rid of the problem for good.

Fits all models with an 8mm driveshaft and a 13mm ID to the right side plate boss which is fitted with ABU part Nos 7080 (black) or 5133 (white) 4.85mm deep nylon bush as standard. The bearing may be a tight fit on some reels as the boss is often prone to wear forming ridges; if this is the case simply smooth and open out the interior of the boss with oiled abrasive paper or a small dremmel tool and sanding pad.

Please note: the bearing included is not an IAR bearing and you will need to retain the anti-reverse pawl on your reel.
