These luminescent pigments come in a fine crystal form for easy mixing into epoxy finishes, resins, oil and solvent paints, and clear varnishes. They can be added to the resin or sprinkled over the surface and sealed in place by a further coat.

They absorb radiant energy from sunlight (or artificial lighting) and convert it into longer wavelengths in the visible spectrum, thereby emitting it as light with the sensation of colours in the form of a long-lasting glow. Unlike conventional pigments, photo-luminescent crystals are not primary light reflectors, but are actual sources of light.

To use add the crystals to resins at approx 10-20% by volume; experiments carried out for us by a professional rod builder determined that best results were obtained with a 20% mix with the epoxy applied on a light background (a white background is best). Addition of the pigment will obviously thicken the mix and shorten the set time.

These pigments can be used with Bondaseal but we recommend using a weaker mix and application of a second coat. Finishes and coatings that block UV light will prevent the pigment working efficiently as the crystals will not be able to absorb enough UV light to correctly charge. This product is NOT compatible with water-based finishes.

These pigments are non-toxic, non-radioactive and non-hazardous to the environment. The pack contains 50 grams of the pigment which is sufficient to coat a single blank or to do 4 or 5 rods between the legs of the guides. Best effects are produced in complete darkness.
