I caught the fishing bug as a young lad of 7 more than 50 years ago beside a small stream in Cornwall and have been hooked ever since. Growing up alongside the estuary of the River Colne in north east Essex I've been lucky enough to have the opportunity to fish much more regularly than many anglers can manage; I can't imagine a life without angling.

I was a professional bait digger and rod-builder for well over a decade before moving away from the tackle/bait trade for a number of years but I couldn't keep away and I started up BlakDogTackle.com as a family-run, online only business in 2008 with the help of my wife. Although we supply general sea angling tackle and rod building equipment we now specialise in reel repairs and upgrades and the supply of parts and reel modifications to customers around the world. We are increasing our range of products regularly so hopefully every sea angler will find something that is on their wish list amongst our products.

As a customer of a great many tackle retailers over the last 50 years I have long since recognised that good customer service is every bit as important as competitive prices. With this experience in mind the basic principles behind BlakDogTackle.com are simple; we will do our best to offer good-quality products at affordable prices, backed up with honest advice about the products we sell (even if it means you don't buy from us) and a high level of customer service.

While it would be impossible to test every single item of equipment personally (if only I had that much fishing time available) I do attempt to try out as many items as possible and will not retail equipment that I wouldn't be happy to use myself. Customers are also very much encouraged to review the products they have purchased; if an item we have sold is not up to standard we want to know about it.

If you have placed an order with us then many thanks for your custom. If not then thank you for taking the trouble to visit; we hope you will visit us again and find something amongst our products that takes your fancy the next time.

Tight Lines,
